Balluff Introduces BVS VisionSensor for Enhanced Optical Quality Control

Sensor and automation-focused company Balluff has announced its latest innovation, the BVS VisionSensor. The new sensor is designed for simple integration and fast vision-based quality control, providing users with an overall boost in efficiency in automated production systems.

Balluff’s BVS VisionSensor

Balluff’s new BVS VisionSensor is available in four versions and features integrated lighting and autofocus optics, eliminating the need for additional components for quality control operations. The sensor features integrated industrial image processing, allowing for simultaneous detection of multiple, complex shapes and brightnesses. This detection makes the sensor solution suitable for quality control and object verification in the electrical and automotive industries. The 1.2-megapixel high image resolution ensures the vision inspection is accurate and detailed. The LED white, red, and infrared light emitters provide versatility in lighting options for inspection in different lighting environments.

Balluff has integrated multiple analysis tools into its VisionSensor, including presence check, brightness, and binary large objects (BLOB) tools to enhance image processing. Additionally, the sensor allows easy access to condition data, improving efficiency, transparency, and safety in the production process.

A Smart Vision Solution

The sensor’s IoT capabilities, including MQTT and REST API, simplify data exchange, seamlessly integrating the solution with a modern production environment.  Equipped with Profinet, IO-Link, UDP, and TCP communication interfaces, the sensor offers flexibility in product control and data management. The M12 power and IO-Link cable connector further simplifies installation, reducing the overall wiring. The compact design also simplifies installation in various setups, and the IP67 protection rating ensures durability in harsh industrial environments. The new VisionSensor can be easily configured through a user-friendly sensor app accessible via a web client, simplifying the configuration and monitoring of the sensor.
