Signal Towers / LED Stack Lights

When a system or equipment needs to get the attention of operators, a signal tower flashing a red light typically does the job—a loud beacon also helps. For many years, equipment on virtually any factory floor has had a signal tower with normally a red, yellow, and green light. This light tower indicates equipment status to workers. Commonly, a green light means the equipment is running; yellow can mean a warning is present, and a red light means the machine is faulted or stopped.

The RST Signal Tower

One significant requirement for any signal tower is that the light must be seen from 360 degrees. Werma’s new line of RST LED signal towers provides 360-degree full-rotation visibility. The lights also feature a milky dome that presents a soft lighting effect, giving the towers a modern touch. The modern design of the RST tower goes further with the overall diameter. Most light towers are quite bulky. The other light towers offered by Werma come in a diameter of 70 mm, while the RST signal tower has a diameter of 57 mm.

The RST product family comes pre-configured in four different sizes and can be illuminated in two to five segments. This customization allows for a range of color selections. A buzzer is optional and can be added to any variation selected. The buzzer has a 90 decibel acoustic signal. The RST signal tower also features an IP66 and IP69K rating to support operation in harsh factory environments.

The location of a light tower's mounting is important if light is to be seen from all around the equipment. The RST tower has a flexible mounting system that allows mounting on walls, floors, ceilings, or pipes. Electrical connections are easily made using industry-standard M12 cables. An optional tamper-proof model for installations in public spaces is also offered.

Light Tower Applications

Werma’s new RST family, with its small form factor and enhanced functionality, is suitable for virtually any application that requires a signal tower. Light towers are often used on equipment that has continuous use such as assembly equipment, conveyors, and logistics systems. Light towers are even used in stores on top of self-checkout machines. Whenever workers need to be notified of changes in machine states, a sequence of different-colored lights and a loud noise help them identify problems faster for greater efficiency and safety.
